| Playing Up with Pompey £16.99 (Hardback) |
 |
Authors: Bob Beech
During the early 1980’s, a new youth phenomena swept across the football terraces in the UK. The Casuals were style-conscious gangs that took the football wars to a new level, giving themselves names that would be recognized everywhere they went. On the south coast, one such gang became known as the Portsmouth 6:57 Crew.
Punching above their weight, the 6:57 Crew took on and beat many of the top firms across England before becoming a major player within the growing hooligan scene attached to the national team. Playing Up With Pompey is the true story of those times.
Born & raised in the city, Bob Beech has followed Pompey all his life taking part and witnessing some of the events that made the 6:57 Crew one of the most talked about firms in the country. Not pulling his punches, he takes the reader from the skinhead days of the 1970’s to today’s sterile environment of the Premiership giving a feel for how a city with such a relatively small population became so well respected. |

Harry Holland was born in Brentford, West London in 1942. He never really knew his father and was severely abused as a youngster by a family friend.

Later on, he opened a highly successful amateur boxing gym before joining the professional ranks as a trainer and promoter where the likes of Andy Till, Rocky Kelly and James Cook flourished under his guidance.
Outside of the ring Harry has worked with Frank Warren, Mickey Duff and Don King whilst inside the ring he has worked with the likes of Nigel Benn, Dennis Andries, Audley Harrison and many more.
Harry has also worked as a van boy, a van driver, a doorman, a model, a male escort, a debt collector and for the last 20 years has appeared in the top TV soap EastEnders.
This is a no-holds-barred account of his life and pulls no punches. It is funny, sad, honest, eye opening ...and at times very moving. |
